This specific damascus model was a prototype that SOG never sold. The story behind these knives is that a limited amount of 25 were presented to Spencer Frasier for approval prior to manufacturing. However, Spencer wasn’t impressed with the Damascus pattern and requested the knife’s blade be modified. Instead of throwing the knives away, all of them were snapped up at the Shot Show where they were displayed. The beautiful damascus patterns make this knife a very unique piece along with the SCUBA/Demos blade shape that speak about quality and the excellent Japanese craftmanship that went into forging the knifes blade. One of the more beautiful knives that SOG did produce later, but this SCUBA/Demo Damascus model is one of the rarist of SOG Prototype knives that cannot be easily found.
